[issue537] mq .hg/patches/status problem

I'va encountered a bug in mq, 100% reproducible: if patch's message can't be
converted to utf-8, exception is raised and mq data are left in an inconsistent
state. Specifically, .hg/patches/status contains an invalid revision, so even hg
log doesn't work
