On my (hot) MBP which is hardly a reference:
$ time python run-tests test-check-code-hg.py
real 0m38.709s
user 0m32.336s
sys 0m3.967s
The same with the loop breaking immediately:
real 0m14.750s
user 0m10.135s
sys 0m3.317s
Not super fast, similar to or slightly slower than our average test I think.
(Last time I ran the test suite, it took more than 30mn).
