For what it's worth, I wrote a similar patch,[1] and I have an example  
instance running at hg.villiom.dk.[2] I didn't submit it as I wasn't  
quite satisfied with the output. I put the templatefilter into the  
highlight extension, but Martin just said on IRC that he'd rather have  
it put into ‘templatefilters.py’ — moving it there should be  
relatively easy. Just wanted to mention this since you seem to be  
working on the same thing; please feel free to take anything useful in  
my patch :-)
