Bug ID: 6884
Summary: hg grep confusingly mixes warning message into normal
output
Product: Mercurial
Version: 6.7.4
Hardware: PC
OS: NetBSD
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: bug
Priority: wish
Component: Mercurial
Assignee: bugzilla at mercurial-scm.org
Reporter: mercurial-bugzilla at campbell.mumble.net
CC: mercurial-devel at mercurial-scm.org
Python Version: ---
When I haven't set ui.username in my hgrc, hg grep prints a warning about it,
but it's mixed into the regular output, even with a pager. For example, when I
run `hg grep revset' in the Mercurial hg repository, I get:
Makefileno username found, using 'riastradh at singbulli.local' instead
: mercurial/fileset.py mercurial/revset.py \
contrib/all-revsets.txt:# All revsets ever used with revsetbenchmarks.py script
contrib/all-revsets.txt:# The goal of this file is to gather all revsets ever
used for benchmarking
...
I can't imagine why hg grep would want ui.username in the first place. It
looks like the `hg grep -u' option uses it to show my own configured username
on each line, but I don't understand why it would do that. But even if there's
a reason for that, hg grep shouldn't print a warning when it's not using the
username, and any warning certainly shouldn't be intermingled into the regular
grep output.
