Bug ID: 6887
Summary: Many tests failing with Python 3.12 (distutils issue?)
Product: Mercurial
Version: 6.8
Hardware: PC
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: bug
Priority: wish
Component: Mercurial
Assignee: bugzilla at mercurial-scm.org
Reporter: kwalkq.mercurial-bugzilla at pacien.net
CC: mercurial-devel at mercurial-scm.org
Python Version: ---
Running the test suite of hg 6.8 with Python 3.12 results in many failed tests:
# Ran 782 tests, 242 skipped, 143 failed.
python hash seed: 0
Here's the full log of all tests runs for NixOS:
https://logs.ofborg.org/?key=nixos/nixpkgs.325603&attempt_id=4438cd06-a073-4be1-a1cc-5cd11cad2310
Looking over the test failures, I speculate that there is some issue with
output filtering, and in particular "has" checks from hghave.py not being
selected correctly.
Indeed, hghave.py appears to be importing the "distutils" package,
which has been removed from the Python 3.12 distribution:
+ Traceback (most recent call last):
+ File "/build/mercurial-6.8/tests/hghave", line 8, in <module>
+ import hghave
+ File "/build/mercurial-6.8/tests/hghave.py", line 1, in <module>
+ import distutils.version
+ ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'distutils'
