General idea is that when a piece is moved into core it does so. (there 
is a good share of evolution already handled by core). The extension 
allow to be more flexible while we experiment. It also has a more 
flexible release schedule and is compatible with some previous version 
of Mercurial to help reaching testers faster. For example you can 
install the fix for 4354 today on the version of Mercurial you use 
today. On a similar vein, next week I'll help other testers to deploy 
the prototype of the new discovery protocol on an older version of 
Mercurial.
