  So we have this part covered (slowly). We can now (in other Diffs) move to the next points.
  
  - implement a faster method
  - fix this issue on the fly during exchange
  - ensure things are fixed on upgrade (cf D11252 <https://phab.mercurial-scm.org/D11252>)
