Thought that was a little unusual, but .... :)  

Anyway I agree with Sean.  It would be interesting to here from you
Matt, about how you think things like this should work.  I already
know about custom metadata and in general your wanting to keep things
simple by only tracking files but what about the above situation where
a "hg update <tag>" does not revert the working copy to the way it was
when the tag was created?
