I don't mind if 'tip' is there or not, but having less commands
might help fitting 'hg help' on one screen page.

Exactly. What about keeping 'hg tip', but only show it in 'hg -v help'?
Other commands may be hidden, too, I think they are:
help (hey, showing how to get help is useless in help)
rawcommit (not for normal usage)
recover (hg should point at this command in case it is needed)
tip (see above)
version (version is already included in help, and the standard
'hg --version' works, too)
Now up to five additional (and possibly more important) commands fit
on the screen without scrolling away.
