seems to work great!  i poked around some and did not run into any
noticeable speed issues ...

one thing, in some recent thread on the git mailling list, Linus was
requesting that gitweb not use last names for author/committer and
instead use first names ... you might want to think about changing that
for the next round of conversion ... full name or full name and email
would be fine i think assuming you can pull that out of the bkcvs (or
whatever) stuff that you have ...
