Playing advocate of the devil I could argue that with the same
probability that scripts actually exist that would break it would
not be too difficult for the scripters who cooked them up to
tweak them accordingly.

OTOH there is the empty i18n.py waiting to be filled, and once it
/is/ filled this will be much more complex and all scripts that
do rely on English output will be broken.
Mind you I am half joking and this won't keep me from using
mercurial. Still, as someone who is not a professional programer
I wonder why sometimes you have an elaborately structured program
that interacts with you like you were an inarticulate dummy --
after all python is a /language/ and not a collection of
pictograms ;-)
