I'm sorry? Why should the revision control system care what kind of
file you're dealing with? If you look around at other revision control
systems, you'll find that just about none care what type a file is. The
common denominator you'll see is that some distinguish between binary
files and text, so that they can convert line endings between Unix and
Windows conventions.
