What version of Python is required?

According to that, at least Python 2.3 is needed.

http://www.selenic.com/mercurial/wiki/index.cgi/WindowsInstall kind of  
implies the same thing, but doesn't really come out and say it.  It's  
implied by the ActivePython version number that are mentioned on the  
page.

I've personally used hg with Python 2.4 and 2.5.
