My favourite editor (xjed, wjed) provides filename completion, but does not check case on manual user input. This may be regarded as a misfeature of jed, but it is a real-world use case. If I type
  <ctrl-o> inp <tab> h
jed may open a file "INPUT.h" and save it by that name, although it might have been "INPUT.H" before.
