dirstate incorrectly updated, modified files not shown

Oh, sorry, we're using Mercurial version 1.0.1 running on Redhat Linux.

The "hg debugstate" output, where incorrect, matches the working copies
of the files (both size and mod time), which is what's causing the
problem, since the files are not the same as the pristine versions from
the tip of the repository.

What version are you using? What OS and filesystem? How does the output
of 'hg debugstate' compare with the directory listing?
