Progress bar on network actions

Hi,
I was working on something like this some time ago, then I started working on 
other things...

More specifically I was working on showing a progress bar during every "long" 
operation, you can easily find old patches by Thomas Arendsen Hein but I don't 
remember whether I posted something mine or not. Anyway, I still have the 
patches so if you need them just tell me.
If there's interest in this I can try to find some spare time to continue 
what's been done so far.
