.hg directory has eclipsed 3GB - how to deal with huge manifest?

Yes.  Another pathological case I've found is when converting from cvs to
Hg with Simon "corecode" Schubert's cvs2hg, the manifest file goes over 10
GB due to the way it connects "commits" together.
