I wrote the "info" extension first of all as a learning exercise in
writing extensions, and secondly because I knew about the Bazaar info
command, and hadn't found the equivalent Mercurial commands at that
stage. (Yes, I know - learning to write extensions rather than
learning basic usage isn't exactly the sensible approach. So sue me
:-))

There's certainly nothing there you can't get elsewhere - and to be
honest, I added some of the information just to flesh things out (I
doubt I actually had a reason to think I needed to *know* the base
hash, for instance). But I do think that the obvious thing for a new
user to think of when they want to know some of the basic summary
details of a repository is "hg info". The command ought to exist, even
if there's a debate over what it might show :-)
