Yes, I think the original idea was to try and make the main site and the 
Wiki look similar. I think that if a project wants to encourage people 
to use a Wiki, it should try and make it fit in with the rest of the Web 
presence, so as not to look like an unofficial or unsupported thing.

Of course, we could choose a different colour whilst keeping the same 
general visual style, or we could propose that the colours on the main 
site also change to be less harsh on the eyes, which I imagine is why 
you don't like them. What would work? A darker colour? Do you have any 
examples of sites or colour schemes that you consider to be well designed?
