In that case, you can use dblatex to get quite good LaTeX output from
DocBook source.

I can probably set up a Hudson instance without much difficulty either
there or on serpentine.com.

I'd prefer there to be one canonical host for the official book.

I think that's a good idea.

Yes, we should be able to use <screen>, as it does almost exactly
what's wanted (I believe that's what I'm using at the moment, in
fact).
