Can't commit?

Check out "hg help add".

Hi all,

I have a bunch of files that I added to a brand new repository. They all
show as status ? with hg status:

$ hg status | grep build.xml
? build\build.xml

I tried to check these new files in, to create a baseline before any changes
are made. However, I get this:

$ hg commit
nothing changed

I have no idea how to fix this. "Commit" is the only command or option I
can find mentioned in the manuals. I'm really at a loss how I'm supposed to
commit a new file. Any ideas how I'm supposed to do this?
