What Mercurial version are you using? Can you try latest 
mercurial-stable from 
https://bitbucket.org/tortoisehg/thg-winbuild/downloads/ ? (I assume you 
use windows with some non-standard-cmd shell.)

What kind of server setup do you have? How have you configured 
authentication?

Has it worked before? Is it a new setup or did something change?
