[help] Development strategy(SVN to Mercurial)

I do understand how it works. I've already read the manual.(and made by
myself the code conversion) So generally, I know how it's different than
SVN.
I just ask you to confirm my model based on my SVN experience, not by the
SVN itself.
As said above, I wanna it will be able to update to the latest "default" or
"trunk", even know the branch has been changed for few times, without
mercurial get confused.
Thank you for confirm, I know what is the difference and I'll be careful(I
always do, trust me).
