suggestions on possible replacements for multirepo

I've been using Iain Lowe's multirepo extension 
(https://bitbucket.org/ilowe/multirepo/), but it breaks mq. See 
https://bitbucket.org/ilowe/multirepo/issue/4/mq-flags-dont-work

This is a problem. Can anyone suggest how I might obtain similar 
functionality some other way? I am not aware of other options that will do 
the same thing, but I can't remember if I actually ever asked here, and 
perhaps I'm missing something.

Alternatively, does anyone have any idea how the issue above could be 
fixed, or even how hard it might be to fix?
