Download subdirectory from remote repository

Hi,

I know that a subdirectory clone isn't possible. Probably because of
information loss about directory structure, which is essential when
calculating changeset hashes and resolving merge conflicts.

Instead I just want to download subdirectory without any history, tagged or
not. Is there a way to do this in HG?
