Are you sure that's what is happening? Because that is not what I see in
the repo tarball you posted. In that case, the corruption is very
definitely just at the end of the changelog file.

OK, so that's not quite a local push. If source and destination are only
visible to one user, then that's interesting. If one or other is shared
among several users, I'd be getting nervous if I were you.
