ngext.notify: multiple commits per email, ignoring merges

Valentin David and David Champion expressed interest in helping with the
implementation.  (See the email thread at
http://selenic.com/pipermail/mercurial/2012-June/043214.html .)

What is the status of this?  I would find it extremely useful.

My testing indicates that Google Code already behaves this way for
Mercurial repositories.
