If you need to test a command and parse the output before using it for 
real why not have a minimal repo that is used for test execution, (and 
possibly cleared out after use), I would also in the case of wishing to 
only open a subset of commands for users seriously consider giving them 
a minimal GUI using wxPython and hglib.
