Converting a private repo to a public one

Hi all,
I have a repository that contains private information (think passwords and
the like) and I've since tidied it up so that nothing in the working
directory is of concern, and I'd like to release it publicly. But the
history contains private content. I was hoping hg convert would enable me
to remove those early revisions, but it seems like that's not possible.
Currently, I have:
R1* > R2* > ...* > R10 > R11 > R12 > ...
Where * revisions have private data. I'd like to maintain the history from
R10 on, but drop the history before that. The documentation implies I can
do the opposite, and "stop importing at a given revision, if the --rev
option is provided" but I don't immediately see a way to do what I want,
which is to have R10 map to R1 in the new repository, and so on.
Any suggestions?
Michael
