Mercurial popularity is stagnant

Why this excitement? Numbers are not everything: I have yet to meet a
Ferrari driver who feels threatened by the popularity of Toyotas.
Also, in my experience the numbers differ for closed-source projects
or research projects hosted on university servers.

As far as I can tell mercurial has a stable and content user base not
planning on going elsewhere anytime soon.

I really don't understand what the problem is. What is there to worry about?
