I'm missing something in hg-hackable installation

I've downloaded the hg-hackable 2.6 package to a "new" machine. It's been
a while since I did this, and evidently I missed something in the
instructions.
After the initial un-zip, hg status gave "abort: failed to load Python DLL".
After peeking at the "build from scratch" steps, I tried
xcopy hg-python26 hg-python
hg status
which then yielded
'import site' failed; use -v for traceback
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "C:\mercurial-2.6-hackable\hg-2.6\hg", line 10, in <module>
import os
ImportError: No module named os
Do I need to do the setup.py step as well?
And when I get that working, pulling from Stable should get me updated to
the release candidate?
[It's a new machine in that I've not run HG-HACK here before, although THG
has been installed and updated several times. W7 64]
Thanks.
