Bryan O'Sullivan wrote an excellent book called *Mercurial: The
Definitive Guide*:

It's a bit out-of-date now, as Mercurial has grown a lot of nice
features in the last 3 or 4 years. But it's still a very good
conceptual guide. 

Chapters 1, 2, 3, 5, and 8 are IMHO the most essential reading. Go
back and fill in the gaps at your leisure, once you are comfortable
with the basics.
