We are doing this kind of syncing on 10+ repos at work for around 3-4 years now. Despite also 10+ developers constantly working on them on either "side" of the mirror, I've never seen that happening.

What I've seen, though, is occasional desyncing due to network outages. But in this case the team quickly finds out, because everyone indeed sees the problem with a pull.
