Antivirus and Indexing Service on Windows: How TortoiseSVN deals with it

Was this a question, or an omitted explanation?
If a question, doesn't Mercurial recommend having the archives opt-out of
AV and indexing scans? I would expect THg to also recommend that, and I'd
also expect a non-distributed VCS like SVN to give similar advice. TSVN
normally is a client interface to a server with SVN, but I recall an option
for having a local repo (not easily shared), and if you have one of those
you should also opt-out of AV and indexing.
