Did you read the two big warnings at the top of the FAQ that suggest it
might not be relevant or up-to-date?

No one has substantially edited the FAQ in 5 years: half the life of
the project. One of the realities of a big non-commercial, largely
volunteer project like Mercurial is that there will always be something
more urgent or interesting to work on than cleaning up old docs.

But the FAQ is on a wiki - feel free to edit it yourself.
