I was more trying to figure out if I was missing something, obvious or unobvious. By your response, I'm guessing no. Since I don't really want to do something that has the potential to mess other tools up, I'll probably go with Harvey Chapman's suggestion of `gl` -> `log -G`. Short and hopefully easy to remember.
