Aaah, avoiding temptation to rant:) For me, I understand Linux(Unix) I do not understand Windows. There are many reasons for this. My general observation is the Linux expects the user to be in the loop and provides the tools and mechanisms for the user to control their programs. In other words the user is considered both a producer and consumer. On Windows the user is considered a consumer only and getting Windows to the point that the user is a producer also is difficult. In the end though it comes down to what you have at hand and what you understand.
