hg-git plugin, and git-fast export

Hello

I am using hg mostly for my Latex documents (and some Xemacs hacks) and
I am very satisfied with it. However there are 2 reasons which make me
think to use a export/import tool to git.

    - Software: although Xemacs uses Hg, GNU emacs which is the more
vivid project, uses Git (and many associated lisp packages also
       do).

    - Authorea, an online collaboration tool, based on LaTeX, with an
online editor, relies also on git (if someone knows a similar
project using HG I would be delighted to learn about it).

Be it as it may, I found two conversations tools and played a bit with
both: the hg-git plugin and the git-fast export script.
At first sight they look like one time solutions: you convert and then
stick with git.

Git-fast export is indeed fast and states its limitation.

But what's about the hg-git plugin, could it, say, work with some of the
lisp projects which reside in github using that plugin and *not* screw
up things for the other git users? Does anybody has experience with that
plugin used in that way?

The case of collaboration seem less problematic since there branching
and merging does not occur that often.
