new Eclipse Mercurial client?

I don't think the eGit developers are excited by my proposal:

Any competent Eclipse devs think that such an idea based on eGit is 
worthwhile?

BTW, I do see now that there is some activity on the Mercurial Eclipse 
bug lists, but there's not much happening publically.  In any case, it 
would seem that a common core would improve things considerably.
