FWIW, I'm seeing this as well, using hg-git tip, though perhaps under
circumstances that warrant it.
My git repo is the result of using hg-git to convert a mercurial repo, and
it seems to have all its tags, but cloning that with hg-git results in no
tags. Well, .hgtags is populated with the same tags as the original repo,
but after the first two, the changeset hashes don't match anymore, so all
but those first two tags don't show up in the output of hg tags.
