Issue with Mercurial GUI on Linux

Hi, I'm having a strange issue with the mercurial gui on linux, whenever I start the gui I see the following display, all menus are blackedout

Mercurial is the only application that seems to do this, but I assume this is not a Mercurial issue but maybe a Linux environment interworking with the tool issue, anyone know what I need to do to solve this?

I've tried restarting my environment and looked for changes in my settings (didn't see any specific ones)

I appreciate any suggestions or help you could provide,
