It doesn't work except with the latest Mercurial. Its prior life was as an internal extension at Google, and the version that would work with hg 4.6 weren't released publicly.

I think someone sent patches to hg-git to fix it with 4.7 - maybe you can find them if you talk to the hg-git folks.
