hg-git: strange push behaviour

Hi 

I am puzzled by the following.

Suppose I set up in my local hgrc file the following 
[paths]
bitbucketgit = git at bitbucket.org:user/test.git

Then 

 hg push bitbucketit works

However when I try to run from the command line directly 
 
 hg push git at bitbucket.org:user/test.git

I obtain the message that this repository does not exist.

Anybody has an explanation and 
what is the correct approach to push without setting the hgrc file?
