hg-git: strange push behaviour

I tried both 
hg push git at bitbucket.org:kalthad/test-git-new.git
abort: repository git at bitbucket.org:kalthad/test-git-new.git does not exist!

And 

hg push git at bitbucket.org:kalthad/test-git-new
abort: repository git at bitbucket.org:kalthad/test-git-new does not exist!


But adding 

[paths]
default = git at bitbucket.org:kalthad/test-git-new

Or 

[paths]
default = git at bitbucket.org:kalthad/test-git-new.git

Works, very strange.
