A stupid problem with a nested repo

Dear Colleagues,

Please help resolve a stupid problem with a nested repo:

$ cat .hgsub
namedb = namedb
$ hg status
$ hg status -S
M namedb/master/biometrica.tomsk.ru
M namedb/master/rusnet.tomsk.ru
M namedb/master/tomsk.su
$ cd namedb
$ hg status 
$ 

As you see, "hg status -S" in the parent repo and "hg status" in the
child repo have a different opinion on whether the files in the child
repo are modified.

I don't know how I've come to this but it's annoying.
