Just a small update on this:
I didn't use the script directly (although it's useful to start from, so
thanks!), but I did set up a regular synchronization for CentOS 5, 6 and 7.
This includes running 'createrepo' before running rsync, so these are now
again repositories (with 5.1.2):
https://www.mercurial-scm.org/release/centos7/
https://www.mercurial-scm.org/release/centos6/
https://www.mercurial-scm.org/release/centos5/
I plan to do the same for CentOS 8 once support is available.

I didn't add nightlies yet, I'll see if I can get to that.
