OpenJDK (Java) migrating from Mercurial?

Hello,

Agree that Mercurial is far superior to Git. I also believe that the elephant in the room (Microsoft) is likely to succeed in relegating Mercurial to niche status.

One of the concerns I've had with continuing to stay with Mercurial has to do with support in IDEs.

We use Eclipse. I noticed the lack of mention of Eclipse in the latest few emails concerning support in IDEs. The Mercurial plugin for Eclipse has a poor record of support that has caused our group minor headaches through the years. Git is provided by default in Eclipse. CVS support is provided as part of the Eclipse ecosystem by clicking Install Software and using the standard Eclipse Update Site. An SVN plugin is available under the Eclipse Marketplace menu. The Mercurial plugin was previously available at the Eclipse Marketplace, but it is no longer found there. Mercurial seems to have disappeared from the Eclipse ecosystem.

The other two most important IDEs - Visual Studio and XCode - also do not support Mercurial out of the box. I may be wrong, but I believe there is a plugin for VS - I'm not sure of its status or how much it is used. I do not believe a plugin for XCode exists.

It's a slow drip drip drip for Mercurial. The fat lady isn't singing yet, but she's warming up. Sad.
