I was referring to these two lines in my ~/.hgrc file:

 git.username = ThePythonicCow
 git.password = MySecretPassword

(obviously not my real password).

I am now guessing that these two lines are for git only, not hg-git, and that
since hg-git doesn't use these lines, therefore my question was unclear.
