evolve 10.1.0 returns error

Hi

I installed evolve 10.1.0 a couple of days ago, because I was eager to
try the new experimental.topic.linear-merge

I still have not figured out, how to that, however I now run into a
problem.

I am on ubuntu 16.04 (which uses python 3.5) and have 
hg 5.2rc0+20200125
installed, basically because of backward compatibility issues with older
third party extension.

Be it is it may

I run now 
 hg amend 

And I obtain the following error which I attach
