Also a section "the reverse: accessing hg repos with git" (in the hg-git section?)
would be good.
For section 2 and after it:
- Install and configure Mercurial and extensions
In the tour: maybe sum an diff earlier? I like seeing "Built-in help"
first, because the quality of the help is a huge advantage of Mercurial.
The shorter names could maybe just be an infobox? hg st for status
still works with evolve, but hg sta does not.
I actually like "Daily Use" more than "For beginners", because I expect
that many people will skip a "For Beginners" section.
Maybe rename "for comfortable users" to "Optimized workflows" (or
"Common workflows?") and make "hg-git" its own section: "Interact with
git"?
"For advanced users" sounds good: that’s where I expect those to look
who then actually want to write extensions and such.
And too deep again, but anyway: https://mercurial-book.readthedocs.io/en/latest/advanced-concepts/scaling.html
In scaling the book just names "shallow clones" and fsmonitor and
clonebundles, but gives no indication how to use them: "shallow clones
(with remotefilelog, see section XY)"
"older versions of Mercurial" needs to be quantified, for example:
"(up to version XX, released 20YY)"
Still missing: narrow clones (though the extension is marked as experimental)
Also needs to replace bitbucket-links (the takeover by Atlassian still hurts).
Best wishes,
Arne
